NebCorp

A very authentic old website! From the creator: I’m the designer of wwn.nebcorp.com, which I started designing in late 1998 and made go live in March 1999 (http://wwn.nebcorp.com/agenda/public001.html). Several years ago, I resolved to never have a major redesign in hopes of a) being awesome once a retro nostalgia made late 90s design cool again, and b) being the longest-running non-redesigned site. I see I have plenty of competition on the latter point, to the extent that I’m honored to be in such august company.

In any case, despite dabblings here and there, the aesthetic and underlying architecture remain much the same. I don’t believe there is any CSS and my most modern CGI dabblings involve nothing newer than beautiful, stodgy, diesel-powered, bulletproof, clean-burning, high-torque, union-made Perl. Also, my HTML is lovingly padded with white space and indentations for human-eye reading, hand-crafted with VI and suitable for reading like a fine poem. As you can see, there are plenty of exceedingly silly and simple Web 1.0 tricks that make the site seem more automated and ominous than it really is.

  1. Ever since I came across Neb Corp in late ’98, my life has been changed. I haven’t seen the world the same.
